The San Francisco Chronicle Food and Wine Story
The Bay Area takes its food & wine seriously – always has and always will. And this city has entrusted the San Francisco Chronicle with providing extensive coverage in both the food and wine categories for over 20 years. Over the years, The Chronicle’s Food and Wine sections have repeatedly won the James Beard Foundation’s prestigious award for best newspaper section, which recognizes excellence in food reporting.
The San Francisco Chronicle is currently the only newspaper in the country with a weekly wine section, and a 20,000-bottle wine cellar to support it. In addition, the Chronicle operates a comprehensive test kitchen, and as part of a long standing food tradition, writers and columnists develop recipes on site. The Bay Area’s diversity and Northern California’s bounty of local, seasonal ingredients are our inspiration. Our thoughtful consideration of how food and wine work together distinguishes the Chronicle’s staff. That focus makes San Francisco Chronicle Wine Club a valuable resource.
When you join the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Club, you not only benefit from the expertise of acclaimed food and wine professionals, you also become a part of the larger San Francisco Food & Wine community. With special notices and invitations about The Chronicle’s many food and wine events, such as the Chronicle’s annual wine competition, you’ll be inside all that makes up Northern California’s vibrant wine scene. And with our online features, you can easily link into The Chronicle’s tips on top restaurants, food, and wine. The San Francisco Wine Club is a great way to discover and share great taste with friends and family, and keep up with all that the Bay Area has to offer.
